๐Ÿต๏ธBenchmarking the Battery Brains plus AI Expansion

Porous Electrode Theory (PET) models, acting as "brains," are essential for understanding and predicting the complex workings of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). This post compares three open-source PET models: Dualfoil, MPET, and LIONSIMBA, focusing on their interpretation of lithium ion intercalation/deintercalation, electrolyte role, and charge movement in a LiMn2O4-graphite cell. While macroscopic discharge voltage curves may align, the models show significant differences in predicted electrochemical profiles like Butler-Volmer flux and lithium concentration. This highlights the importance of scrutinizing granular-level predictions beyond macroscopic matching to select the most accurate model for advancing LIB technology.
